Interactive Whiteboard Installation
Introduction
3 Tech Systems Ltd have been specifying and installing Audio Visual (A/V) Technologies for many years. Initially we were requested to undertake this sort of work as an extension of our network cabling installations. This started within schools and colleges and has developed from there. It is now a fundamental part of our business and has become an integral part of our portfolio.
Our survey & installation team understands through expertise & experience what is required for these installations. When considering interactive whiteboards, a typical school setup, the criteria is quite extensive. For an interactive board to be usable and versatile the following variables need to be covered;
- Whiteboard type, size, connectivity options & distance to controlling computer?
- Whiteboard mounting height for student ages?
- Projector type, brightness, resolution, connectivity, remote control, lamp life, lamp cost?
- Projector placement for safety and security?
- Projector placement for screen size (critical for interactive whiteboards), zoom, focusing & keystone?
- Projector mounting bracket type for ceiling height, ceiling type, ceiling material, asbestos?
- Projector video cabling & mains power supply, switching & isolation?
- Video source resolution for VGA (SVGA or XGA) & Composite?
- Video source switching and multiplexing?
- Audio source connectivity and setup etc.
All of the above points need to be understood at the surveying stage, let alone during installation. We have developed a process (with site specific documentation) which helps us collate all of this information. This forms the basis of our quotations.
