Network Cabling Infrastructure Installation
Roll-out
During the initial site “tidy-up” phase, unfortunately, one of the building contractors accidentally cut and removed BT’s 50 pair wiring. This fed the building being worked on and the adjacent property, which was fully occupied. Obviously, this caused massive disruption and needed to be corrected as quickly as possible. We were asked to assist with this situation and speed through the repair. To this aim our installation team replaced the 50 pair cable and rerouted it where needed, to the BT contacts. Down time was compressed to less than one day for a task that would normally have taken far longer.
After this initial problem the remaining installation and relocation of equipment was completed on time and as expected. Some additional points were added adjacent to existing runs and some additional PCs were purchased. These were absorbed into the work schedule and did not impact the time line.
During the testing phase of the new cabling all terminations were found to pass our structured cabling tests, carried out using our industry standard testing hardware. All points were patched as necessary and left ready for use.
All aspects of the server relocations and reconfiguration were undertaken during the final scheduled weekend and no disruption was experienced by any of the site personnel. A transparent move from one building to the next was experienced by all staff from Friday afternoon to Monday morning.
