Laser & Radio Point to Point Connection

The laser link needed to be reviewed and tested thoroughly. The setup for this device was non-standard and far more complex than the radio system. The deadline for completion would offer us a two week window for reliability testing and error correction, if needed.
Link testing software would be used to continuously log connectivity and time-stamp any errors. This would allow us to analyse failures and assign them to specific events.
The radio system, though easier to setup, would still need to be tested and the redundancy switching proven. The network between the devices would be setup in isolation so testing could be carried out without affecting any other systems.
The complete system could only be tested when in position. At this stage we needed to install the links and use the remaining time for assessment.
